LIMPICS

The LIMPICS project was an Emmy-Noether Junior Research Group lead by Olaf Eisen at the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) in cooperation with the University of Heidelberg. The main focus of the group was the determination of physical properties of ice in Antarctica and the Swiss Alps using active-source seismics and radar.

Our work included several field expedition to Neumayer III and Kohnen stations in Antarctica, as well as measurements at Colle Gnifetti, in the Swiss-Italien Alps. During this work we successfully used the vibroseis technique as source for our seismic measurements.

See the AWI webpage for a list of publication from the LIMPICS project.
